Indiegogo Deplatforms BitChute

This post includes information about our recent deplatforming from Indiegogo which we had been using to run a crowdfunding campaign for Comment-Freely.

What is Comment-Freely?

Comment-Freely is open-source software that we are developing to allow commenting anywhere on the Internet. It is free to use by anyone via BitChute or completely independently of BitChute. It is politically neutral in the same way WordPress blogging software can be used by anyone to create a diverse range of websites and services.
You can watch a recent video we made about Comment-Freely here:

Notice Of Suspension

In order to develop this software, we sought voluntary help from our community members. In total, we had raised just under $7000 through an Indiegogo campaign and we were about to collect this money when we received the following email from Indiegogo.

Dated: 29 January 2019

Indiegogo Deplatforms BitChute

Indiegogo Completely Ignored Us

We replied to Indigogo’s email within thirty minutes of it arriving. At first, we thought it might just be a case of validating our identity which we were prepared to do. In the following days we emailed many more times. None of these emails resulted in a response from Indiegogo and we still have not received a response from their staff.

Our Members Knew Before We Did

On February 1st we started to receive emails and messages from members who had been refunded by Indiegogo. The email says: “Indiegogo’s trust and safety team determined this campaign didn’t comply our terms of use”.

What’s Next?

Indiegogo still has not directly told us that the campaign has been refunded or even how the campaign violated their terms. We cannot even imagine how an open-source piece of commenting software could do so. We have been kept completely in the dark and we are now considering our next steps including legal action.

I’m sorry to everyone who participated in this crowdfunding campaign and has now had their money refunded to them. Please be assured that this setback will not prevent us from completing this project and we are grateful to you all for your continued support.

In the meantime if you would like to support us you can do so here:

The censorship will continue throughout this year and next; it may continue until all Anti-Establishment perspectives are removed from the Internet entirely. Jones is right; its an “Infowar”. Comment Freely is a great idea, and sorely needed. But expecting any platforms controlled by the Techlords of the Deep State to not screw with you or shut it down was naive. Alt Media needs its own complete ecosystem, where ideas can be safe, as Gab found by going to Epik. After you get your commenting platform out there to take on Disqus, lets see about a Crowdfunding platform that’s safe for Free Speech.

    Cryptocurrencies. There’s no other answer.

  3. it is outrageous that mainstream alternatives are being denied access to freely given funding . this is a volation of your basic right to earn a living and the basic right of contributors to make donations as they see fit . although I have no doubt that indiegogo are acting illegally in refusing to transfer you the money I am not sure that we have a legal system that has any intention of helping innocent victims obtain justice

they are trying to starve alternatives into submsission by constantly sanctioning alternative content , as somebody that has been using bitchute for almost a year and with almost 1000 uploads I have a vested interest in your survival

all I can plead is to hold on and try to find alternative sources of revenue , maybe direct donations to a named bank account

one aspect needs to be mentioned , some content on bitchute is beyond free speech. Ie stalker, harassment and crude accounts . even impersonation and name squatting

i do understand how enormously difficult it must be for you to try and make a success of this platform when the entire establishment is against you

the misuse of banking cartels to prevent genuine alternatives to the evil monopolies must be noted

i also see that in addition to so called indiegogo ( owned by whom) we get patreon and paypal who are also trying to destroy your business

although its cold comfort i would like to say that this onslaught does help reassure me that perhaps you are the real deal after all

please please please hang on , we can try and work something out together

    Please start suing these fuckers.

This needs to be brought before the courts,.

very high fees , maybe you can create a non NWO funding app . when i saw the names of the poeple who created indiegogo it was plain to see why they woudlnt allow you to get the chump change $7000

These commissions are a little stiff. Looks like they would be succeptable to competition that charged a much fairer commission than 9% (on campaigns that don’t reach the goal) or 4% on others, not to mention the 3% credit card processing fee! — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 13:41, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

  6. I’m really angry about this. I took it upon myself to help promote this campaign in many messages and comments to others as well as donating to it 3 times and now it was all for nothing. I asked Indiegogo for an explanation and this was the first email response I received:

    Hi Trevor,

The campaign ‘An Alternative Technology Comments Platform’ that you contributed to has been suspended due to violating our Terms of Use. Unfortunately we cannot share specific details on the campaign, but please note that we have already refunded your contribution.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused you. We continually review campaigns and as new information arises we may take action such as suspending a campaign to protect contributors.

    Trust and User Operations

There have been a couple more back and forth emails since this one but not really worth posting here as really all I’m getting are placating, meaningless words from Indiegogo rather than any actual explanation. Putting this in context with all the censorship, bullying and deplatforming of alternative platforms and views in the past couple years is, at this point actually quite worrisome. Our ‘free’ and ‘democratic’ society is moving in the absolute wrong direction towards Tyranny and Totalitarianism. Individual rights and freedoms are being trampled along with the principles of Free Market Capitalism. This coupled with new technologies allowing for unprecedented control over individual people at a Global scale paints a very bleak future for humanity if we don’t step up our efforts to fight this and continue to allow this to worsen.

the goldbergstein’s don’t like free and fair competition

See because his ArkHaven comic (Alt-Hero Q) was deplatformed in exactly the same way so he is going after them.
They have a class action and are otherwise fighting back. You need to compare notes.
Filing arbitration costs $250 (Indegogo picks up the rest of the cost), so you can press them by having every backer file one (if they didn’t opt out of arbitration).
    It is against their ToS

  9. This is sick!!!!!! I left comments on indiegogo’s fb page! They clearly work for the Government and deep state! Way to reveal your cards idiots!!!!

  10. This work reveals some sort of poetic mood and everyone would be attracted by it.
A vector path, whatever the twists and turns are, could be more elastic and scalable.
Matisse also had become the king in the Fauvism and
was famous in the art circle.

  11. With a great eye and taste for delineation, you possibly
can make a place impeccable for almost any exercises linked to feasting
room. After the Bourbon Restoration, because the trial participant of
Louis XVI, David was lacking his civil right and property,
and was instructed to leave his homeland to settle
in Brussels where David also completed many works, and lastly died in a very strange land.
The beginning of Leonardo’s life was committed to art and painting in particular.

  12. I am disappointed to say the least, the censoring is becoming blatant.
